    How to Prepare - Use textbook p. 886 and the reading chapters and bring three points of historical evidence to support your discussion. You will turn in your preparation notes after the discussion.

    Due Sunday April 9 read Chapter 41 - bring notes to class.  In class you should choose 3 themes from the chapter guide and write a paragraph response to explore the theme using historical information and specifics from the chapter.  By the end of class you should turn in your handwritten notes and your 3 paragraph responses to the substitute teacher.

    Here are the themes again:

    1. The affirmative action debate.
    2. Sources of neoconservatism.
    3. The pre-presidential career of Ronald Reagan.
    4. The Reagan coalition: electoral success in 1980 and 1984.
    5. “Reaganomics.”
    6. Reagan’s foreign policy.
    7. Gorbachev and the USSR: the end of the Cold War and of communism. 8. The “culture wars” of the 1980s.
    9. 1991: the global triumph of democracy?
